HTC announced two “Desire” handsets this year, the Desire 200 and the Desire 600. The 200 is a 3.5 inch phone that’s so low end I don’t even want to talk about it. The 600, however, is quite a different story. It has a quad core Snapdragon 200 chip (ARM Cortex A5, not Krait), 4.5 inch 960 x 540 pixel display, BoomSound speakers, and an 8 megapixel camera. It’s on sale in some Asian markets, and while I’m not 100% sure about the price tag, I genuinely hope that it makes its way to Europe and the United States because it’s a solid midrange phone....

First things first, the 5.5-inch phablet is apparently indeed called Desire 8. Not Desire 800, to maybe connect with existing Desire 500, 600 and 700 handhelds, but Desire 8 to probably establish a family bond with the oft-rumored high-end One sequel. Hulu announced today that it has signed an agreement to carry The CW on its recently launched Live TV plan. Hulu Live TV lets subscribers view movies and TV shows on supported channels through Hulu’s app like traditional cable. Hulu says its deal with The CW will support both primetime TV shows as well as local programming for Live TV subscribers. Video on demand access to current TV shows will also be available through the Live TV plan....

The reason? A curious thing is happening in this year’s lead up to Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress, the industry’s premier event for showcasing upcoming smartphones and tablets: one company usually plagued by leaks well before launch, is now less than one week away from its March 1st presentation, and the confusion over its impending announcements could not be greater. We’ve known that Verizon Wireless had plans to launch pre-orders for the HTC 10 for a while now, but Sprint is also opening up about its launch plans as well. It looks like HTC might have unintentionally given the world a look at its smartwatch in a video that it uploaded on YouTube earlier this month boasting about its design. The video was initially uploaded on July 8th but the smartwatch’s appearance was only unearthed today. The unannounced smartwatch makes an appearance around the 35-second mark sitting on its (wireless?) charging cradle. This small peek-a-boo of the watch does reveal that it would be coming with a square screen like the LG G Watch and the Gear Live....

HTC today released the HTC 10 in two new colors: Camellia Red and Topaz Gold. In addition to the new colors, HTC is also discounting the price of the handset by $100 for the rest of August. The HTC 10 was already a looker, but it looks incredibly sexy in the new Camellia Red color. In May, HTC officially announced the One mini 2. Despite launching after the One (M8), the One mini 2 isn’t so much of a smaller version of that device, more so than a direct sequel to the One mini that launched in 2013. And Verizon was quick to jump on the opportunity, it seems.
