In the realm of animation, studios such as Disney, Pixar, and DreamWorks have long been established as mainstays, but relative newcomer Illumination Entertainment is quickly joining their ranks. Illumination is the company behind the Despicable Me franchise, which to date has produced two installments in the core series (with a third on the way this summer) and an extremely lucrative Minions spinoff. Last year, they scored two massive hits in The Secret Life of Pets and Sing, both of which finished in the top 10 on the 2016 domestic box office charts....

The beginning of 2015 is likely going to be a busy endeavor, with the arrival of CES in Las Vegas, Nevada, but also with the announcement of whatever it is HTC has been working on. The beginning of the year is usually all about HTC in one way or another, as most other companies have smartphones or other devices that launch later in the year. 2015 will likely be the same, and Jeff Gordon, HTC’s Senior Global Online Communications Manager, took to Twitter to tease what’s to come....

The HTC One M9 comes in a variety of colors already, but apparently HTC wasn’t content with not having a phone that wasn’t 24-karat gold. On Friday, June 5, HTC officially unveiled a brand new variant of the One M9, but this one’s a limited edition model. This particular handset is a hallmark to the end of the UEFA Champions League season, as well as the final for the Champions League....

Anyway, enough of what I think about the One Max. Various publications have had the device for about a week under embargo. Now that the embargo has lifted, let’s hear what they have to say. The Verge Vlad Savov wrote the review of the One Max, in which he gave the phone a frighteningly low 6 out of 10, saying the build quality isn’t as good as it should be, the fingerprint scanner is a joke, and that the camera is just plain non-competitive with today’s smartphones....

Japan carrier KDDI today unveiled its summer lineup of smartphones, which includes a new high-end flagship phone from HTC — the J Butterfly. The J Butterfly comes with a 5.2-inch Quad HD display, a Snapdragon 810 processor, LTE Cat. 6 connectivity, a 13MP selfie camera, a 20.2MP rear camera along with a secondary depth sensor located in the center of the handset for “Duo” effects. Other specs of the handset include 3GB RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a 2,700mAh sealed battery....

In terms of design, the Huawei Band 4 features the traditional fitness band-style design with a built-in USB in-line charger for offering a convenient way of charging. Upfront, there is a 0.96-inch LCD touch screen with a 2.5D glass on top, which offers a screen resolution of 160×80 pixels, along with around 66 different watch faces available on the store. At its core, the tracker is powered by an Apollo 3 processor, and it includes a 91mAh battery that offers up to 9 days of battery life on a single charge....

So of all the things, your smartphone can do, in the long run its camera output is the longest-lasting and the function that makes the most difference, arguably, to your and your family’s lives. And this is, in theory, never more true than for this, the Huawei P20 Pro, the spiritual successor to the old Nokia 808 PureView and the Lumia 1020, with a 40MP main camera. Unsurprisingly – Huawei’s head of imaging is Eero Salmelin, the co-creator of the PureView concept while at Nokia back in 2012....

Huawei has long copied Apple’s EarPods look in the headphones it supplies with its Android smartphones, but it has now announced a pretty blatant copy of the iPhone maker’s wireless AirPods … The Verge noted the similarity, Vlad Savov saying that he was only surprised it had taken someone this long to copy the design. In a move bound to surprise many, Hugo Barra today announced that he will be stepping down from his role of Vice President for Xiaomi for international markets. The move comes after Barra joined Xiaomi 3.5 years ago and has helped the company make a global presence since then. Barra was previously the Senior Vice President and product spokesperson for Android at Google. When he joined Xiaomi back in 2013, the move came as a shock to many....

Students who have a great experience reported having easy online access to data and resources (86% great experience vs. 49% poor experience), services available via mobile (82% vs. 61%), positive digital experiences (81% vs. 36%), access to sharing platforms (80% vs. 57%), and personalized experiences tailored to their needs (60% vs. 11%). More than half (57%) of staff anticipate that flexible learning will increase in the near future....

This comes not long after Samsung’s nightmare with its Galaxy Note 7. The popular smartphone had an issue with overheating batteries causing them to explode. Hold on to your hats. There’s another overheating battery issue causing HP to recall a bunch of its laptops. Is your laptop impacted? In January 2018, HP started a voluntary safety recall and replacement program for certain notebook computer and mobile workstation batteries....

However, for years, the mobile phone division of the company has failed to adapt to new market trends, especially in terms of design. This, coupled with a policy of too high for the specifications offered prices, has led to the popularity of the company among users has declined to very low levels. But this does not mean it is the end of HTC. Several company executives have announced in their social networks “Will not give up” and think that they have a plan to overcome this crisis....

Back at MWC this year, HTC announced its partnership with Under Armor and its first wearable device — the Grip — to go with it. The wearable was scheduled to be launched sometime in Spring this year, with other wearables from HTC to follow later this year. HTC has now decided not to ship the Grip for now, and will instead be realigning the wearable “with the entire product portfolio for health and fitness launching later this year....

In August 2014, HTC introduced a very limited edition of the One (M8) called the PHUNK edition, and it boasted intricately laser-etched designs on the back of the flagship handset. The new program is called INK, and while HTC has just introduced the program, there aren’t many details known at this point....

The Desire 816 borrows design cues from the rest of the HTC One family, will be available in black, green, white, red. It’s definitely not a flagship hset like the One, but it could help buoy HTC’s lagging smartphone effort, reaching the ever-growing market of price-conscious smartphone buyers, especially in Asia. Its form factor should also appeal to folks who want some something in between a “normal-sized” large phone a full-on phablet....

Following the announcement of the Desire Eye, HTC wasn’t quite finished with their camera-focused Double Exposure event. As was previously rumored, the RE camera is officially official. It’s a stand-alone camera unit, much like a GoPro, and HTC says that their two-button design makes it incredibly easy to film, or snap photos when you want. The RE camera features a 16MP camera, and two buttons at the top of the unique design....
