Speaking to a website, the CMO of Huawei, Shao Yang has confirmed that the company is working on its own dual-booting Windows/Android smartphone soon. He said – “With Windows Phone, one direction for us – and one that we are now following – is dual OS. Dual OS as in Android and Windows together.” The Chinese manufacturer reportedly wants to launch this smartphone by Q2 2014, which is technically within the next three months....

Hyper has launched its HyperJuice Wireless Charger Adapter for AirPods. With a clean and simple design and no official wireless charging case from Apple yet, this may be a compelling option for many. Apple’s iPhone event yesterday came and went without mention of AirPower, new AirPods, or even an updated AirPods case that supports wireless charging. In fact, Apple even removed almost all mentions of AirPower from its website, which could mean further delays for the wireless charging pad and possibly a longer wait for a wireless AirPods charging case....

iFixit has shared a significant discovery in the midst of their ritual hardware teardown: the 2018 MacBook Pro keyboard includes a ‘thin, silicone barrier’ under each key. While this may be used to make typing quieter compared to previous versions, it may also be practical for keeping debris from positioning under keys. iFixit makes the same assessment in their write-up: Apple won’t say that the third-generation butterfly keyboard is designed to remedy issues that led to a service program affecting all butterfly keyboard hardware, but iFixit next plans to test the limits of the new, seemingly more protected design:...

I went hs on with the HTC Grip at Mobile rld Congress, what I saw didn’t immediately scream innovation. It’s super sporty-looking Aesthetically, the Grip will speak mostly to sporty types, that’s about it. I can see hardcore runners hikers wearing this during workouts, but unlike the Fitbit Charge, for example, it’s not the least bit subtle looking, nor can you swap in a different style b to match an outfit....

HTC has just unveiled the midrange Desire 310 handset as a successor to the Desire 300 from 2013. It’s interesting that Beats, mostly owned by HTC, is considering buying another company. But I think it would be a good move for HTC. According to Hulu, it has a propriety measurement software solution like Digital Ad Ratings (DAR). Hulu says this about how it uses the Nielsen measurement system: This data is critical to advertisers as well. Whether a show continues running all depends on the ratings it receives. If a show’s ratings are low, you can count on that show being canceled by the network it appears on. Or, it might be moved to a different timeslot....

Hulu will not proceed with plans to bring John Grisham’s novels to life. Dubbed The Grisham Universe, the adaptations were in development since last year and slated for the streaming service as a two-series drama project. The LATimes reports that iCloud will be a low-priced add on to iTunes costing users just $25/year, perhaps as an add on to MobileMe? Earlier CNet reported that Apple had sewn up the last major record label, Universal, to sell its products in the iCloud. The deal had reportedly been finalized late last week (plenty of time!). The company plans to eventually charge a subscription fee, about $25 a year, for the service....

A bizarre Huawei Devialet partnership has resulted in the Sound X, a smart speaker that looks like the love child of a trashcan Mac Pro and a HomePod… Huawei emulating Apple designs is nothing new. We’ve previously seen it produce a MacBook lookalike, the MateBook; not just one but two generations of AirPods clones; and an iPad Pro with Smart Keyboard clone. The latest model, the Sound X, looks rather like a trashcan Mac Pro on the top half and a HomePod on the bottom half....

Apple has admitted that it is App Store integrity was compromised as apps were secretly infected by fake Xcode tools before submission to the App Store. The company has now officially acknowledged the problem and is now removing apps affected by this ‘hack’ from the App Store. Developers were inadvertently submitting malware by using counterfeit versions of Xcode, Apple’s development software, to submit apps. The fake Xcode, dubbed XcodeGhost, would inject malicious code into otherwise-legitimate apps during the submission process....

While Hyundai was one of the first major car brands to promise CarPlay in its vehicles as a selling point nearly two years ago, the automaker so far hasn’t actually shipped the update to add the feature it promised to customers. Compare that to Pioneer’s CarPlay support announced around the same time which brought the iPhone-based infotainment feature to all cars through aftermarket displays in 2014. There may be some good news for Hyundai fans still waiting to test drive CarPlay, however, as USA Today reports that Hyundai is committing to rolling out an update to add the feature early next year....
