The Veronica Mars revival is now streaming on Hulu. With the original series becoming available on the streaming service as of July 1, the new episodes were slated for release July 26. However, the highly-anticipated show has dropped a full week ahead of its expected premiere date.

Airing on UPN from 2004-2006, the neo-noir wrapped up with its third season on the The CW, due to its rather abrupt cancellation in 2007. Set in the fictional town of Neptune, California, the series followed Kristen Bell’s titular teen heroine as she worked for her private eye father. Veronica solved weekly crimes, all while navigating the treacherous waters of high school and unraveling the season’s overarching mystery. Thanks to an impressive Kickstarter campaign, the series has already been revived once as a 2014 feature film. Veronica’s story appeared to have concluded with the two tie-in novels that followed, but last year Hulu announced that the super-sleuth would return for an eight-episode fourth season. This outing, which is said to be “more adult” than its predecessor, will focus on a serial bomber wrecking havoc in Neptune during spring break.

According to THR, Hulu’s Veronica Mars revival has hit the streaming service today. The news came from the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel, where it was announced that the entire eight-episode season has already arrived a full week ahead of schedule. The reveal happened after Bell asked Hulu to release the series early for her birthday (via: Veronica Mars’ official Twitter).

Aside from Bell, fans can expect to see returning stars, such as Enrico Colantoni as Veronica’s dad and Jason Dohring as her longtime love interest Logan Echolls. The majority of the original cast - both major and minor characters - will be making appearances as well. There will also be new faces, including the very shady Clyde Prickett, who will be played by J.K. Simmons, as well as Bell’s The Good Place costar, Kirby-Howell Baptiste, who portrays a nightclub owner named Nicole. Although little has been said about whether or not this will be the final outing for Veronica Mars, Bell has already stated that she would be up for doing another season if the fans want one.

Veronica Mars has retained a passionate fanbase over the years, and viewers are no doubt delighted that the show has hit Hulu a full week early. While the movie was considered by most to be a worthy addition to the series, some did feel that there was a bit too much fan service. However, the revival is already receiving largely positive reviews, including our own. Now, Marshmallows everywhere can form their own opinions, because Veronica Mars is finally back on the case.
