HTC revealed on Twitter today that the One M8 will be getting the Android 5.1 update along with Sense 7 in August. The information was provided by HTC’s UK account on Twitter, so it is likely that One M8 owners in the United States will get the update after a month or so. Owners of unlocked and unbranded One M8 should also receive the update sometime in August.
— HTC UK (@HTC_UK) April 29, 2015 Android 5.1 mainly contains bug fixes and performance improvements, while Sense 7 will bring a powerful new theme engine to the One M8 that will allow users to customise its look and feel according to their liking. HTC’s latest flagship — the One M9 and One M9+ for China — still run on Android 5.0 Lollipop, and it is likely that the company will update these handsets to Android 5.1 before it rolls out the Sense 7 update for the One M8.
